For this type of visa, it is necessary to have a job offer from a Mexican employer registered with INAMI. The process consists of an appointment with INAMI in which a visa application will be submitted and after meeting the requirements, a visa authorization will be obtained, which is necessary to request an appointment at the Mexican consulate closest to the foreigner and thus carry out a consular interview. After obtaining a satisfactory response, the consulate will issue a visa stamped in the passport which will allow entry into Mexico to complete the process of obtaining temporary residence through visa exchange.
If you have a family member, spouse or relative, whether Mexican or holder of a Mexican residence, it is possible to apply for this type of visa. The process consists of an appointment at the INAMI in which a visa application will be submitted and after meeting the requirements, a visa authorization will be obtained, which is necessary to request an appointment at the Mexican consulate closest to the foreigner and thus carry out a consular interview. This is the second stage of any visa application. Once you arrive in Mexico with your visa stamped in your passport, you will need to request an appointment at the INAMI office closest to where you plan to live in Mexico to obtain your resident card. This card may be temporary or permanent, depending on what was previously authorized by the consulate.
All temporary resident cards have a validity period. It is necessary to start the renewal process in advance. This can be done up to 30 days before the expiration date. It is necessary to request an appointment at INAMI. Cards are renewed under the same condition previously authorized.
This procedure is possible when you are legally in the country and one of the following options is met:
-by family unit: when you are the spouse, parent or child of a holder of a residence or a Mexican.
-Temporality: after completing 4 years as a holder of a temporary residence, you would change to a permanent residence.
This is a special program, existing temporarily, about which there is not much information, created by the need to legalize foreigners stranded during confinement and border closures due to the COVID19 pandemic, however, as it represents an important source of income for the federal government, it continues to exist. In order to benefit from this program, it is necessary to have visits prior to 2024 to Mexico and to be present in the country with an expired tourist visa.
Every foreigner who owns a residence is obliged to notify their changes to INAMI and has 90 calendar days to do so and not be deserving of a fine. These changes can be:
-Change of name
-Change of nationality
-Change of address
-Change of job
-Change of marital status
Organization of weddings between foreigners: In Quintana Roo, marriage between individuals of the same gender is legal and possible, and the foreigner's passport is sufficient to carry it out, due to the State's tourist status.
